Im Jahre 1999 setzt die Tokioter Mobile Police eine neue Waffe im Kampf gegen das Verbrechen ein: "Labor" genannte Hi-Tech-Roboter - die auch für illegale Zwecke eingesetzt werden können ... Die "Labor" sind enorm wichtig für schwere Arbeiten, wie das Babylonia Projekt, eine riesige Baustelle zur Baulandgewinnung in der Bucht von Tokio.

Als jedoch einer der Wissenschaftler, die mit diesem Projekt betraut sind, Selbstmord verübt, stürzt die Stadt in eine Krise, die sie fast an den Rand des Ruins bringt. Jetzt liegt es an der Sonderfahrzeugeinheit der Tokioter Polizei, die notwendigen Ermittlungen zu führen, um einen Weg aus der Krise zu finden ...

Die Zukunft wird in Tokyo mit Hilfe riesiger Industrieroboter, der sogenannten Labors, erbaut. Diese Maschinen taugen aber auch wunderbar als Zerstörungswaffem für Terroristen jeglicher Couleur, und deshalb gibt's eine Spezialeinheit der Tokyoter Polizei, die dafür sorgt, daß mit den Kolossen kein Schindluder getrieben wird. Der Selbstmord eines brillianten Ingenieurs führt die Jungs und Mädels von der "Mobile Police Patlabor" auf die Spur eines perfiden Sabotageplans. In hunderten von Labors, die überall in Tokyo im Einsatz sind, hat ihr Erfinder Zeitbomben eingebaut ...

The second book contains storyboards by Mamoru Oshii and is 300 pages with English translations.

Patlabor - Movie 2 DVD
